9-year-old boy seriously injured on a sled pulled by a jeep
A 9-year-old boy from Michigan, pulled on a sled behind his father’s jeep, got out of control during the stunt, crashed into a parked car and was reportedly left in critical condition.
Police said they were called to the snow-covered cul-de-sac in the Detroit suburb of Rochester Hills at around 1:15 p.m. Saturday after the accident and found the boy seriously injured, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday.
The child was taken to the nearby Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital but later had to be taken to the Detroit Children’s Hospital where it was in critical condition.
The boy’s 37-year-old father told police he was driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler in a dead end circle with the boy on a plastic sled attached to the back of the vehicle – when the sled slammed against a parked Ford Fusion.
Police said the man was visiting relatives in the area and alcohol was not a factor, although the accident was still being investigated, WJBK-TV said.
The police have not brought any charges.
