A Burger King employee who hasn’t missed a day in 27 years receives $300,000 in donations

A Las Vegas Burger King employee who has been with the company for 27 years without ever taking a day off went viral after his managers gave him a mediocre gift in exchange for his services – and has now been sold for almost $300,000 collected him.

Kevin Ford, 54, has worked as a cashier and chef at the chain’s McCarran International Airport since 1995, and when his 27th anniversary came, his bosses gave him a backpack filled with a movie ticket, Starbucks mug, candy and chocolate, FOX, filled was 11 reported.

The video of him accepting the gift and thanking his colleagues soon went viral, but many people who saw the clip were shocked that he’d received such a paltry thank you after his years of loyalty to the company.

His daughters soon set up a GoFundMe page for their father to raise about $200, but nearly $300,000 in donations has been raised and the number is still growing.

“The man in this video is my father. He’s been at his job for 27 years and yes, he’s never missed a day’s work,” Ford’s daughter Seryna wrote about the fundraiser.

“He originally started working in this job as a single father when he got custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago. Then, as our family grew and he remarried, he continued to work there because of the amazing health insurance.”

Seryna wrote that the family “doesn’t ask for any” money, “but if anyone feels like blessing him, he’d be happy to visit his grandchildren.”

On Tuesday, his wish was granted when he was flown to New York City to appear on the NBC show Today and was reunited with his grandchildren on live television.

“I haven’t seen my grandchildren in over four years until The Today Show flew me to New York the other day and got to see them live on TV,” Ford told the outlet.

Ford’s daughter created a GoFundMe for her father after the video went viral.

“I’ve been crying so much all these days and of course I’m crying again live on TV when I see my grandkids.”

As for the money raised for him, Ford said he has no plans to retire or take vacations just yet and is solely focused on his family.

“You never know, it’s day-to-day, but I haven’t thought of anything other than visiting my grandkids for a while and maybe raising some money for their college, but I’m not even thinking about that,” he told the outlet.

“I’m just working.”
