Heche was pulled from the wreckage by first responders wearing charred clothing and appeared to be attempting to wriggle out of her stretcher, according to aerial footage obtained from the site.

She was on ventilators and in critical condition in a hospital but was “expected to live,” TMZ reported.

Home security footage obtained from a local CBS station showed her blue car speeding recklessly through a suburban community before the accident.

The mangled vehicle was barely recognizable afterwards, according to footage of the burnt-out, debris-strewn car being towed from the scene, posted by KCBS-TV.

According to the report, Heche’s serious condition prevented officers from testing her for alcohol.

The actress has spoken publicly about her substance abuse issues.

Emergency crews were unable to test Heche’s alcohol level due to her serious condition.

“I drank. I smoked. I did drugs. I had sex with people. I did everything I could to take the shame out of my life,” she told ABC News in 2020.

The actress – who dated Ellen DeGeneres in the ’90s before marrying cinematographer Coleman Laffoon and actor James Tupper – said she turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with trauma at the hands of her father, Donald Heche to have been sexually abused.

Donald was an evangelical Christian who died in 1983 of AIDS, which he contracted while living a secretive gay lifestyle, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Heche’s Mini Cooper was filled with debris after the wreck.

Her brother Nate Heche – who was also sexually abused by their father – died in a high-speed car crash that the actress believed was suicide, according to the 2018 report.

Heche lost two more siblings; Her eldest sister, Susan, died of brain cancer in 2006, and another sister, Cynthia, died in infancy, the article said. She has one surviving sister, Abigail, and was estranged from her mother for decades, according to the report.

Heche has two children of his own, one with Laffoon and one with Tupper.
