Biden jokes he was 40 when he met 17-year-old Eva Longoria
President Biden caused a little laughter at the White House on Thursday after he awkwardly joked about how old he was when he first met Eva Longoria, who was then a minor.
The 48-year-old Hollywood actress accompanied the 80-year-old President to a screening of Flamin’ Hot – Longoria’s directorial debut – on the South Lawn Thursday night.
“We’ve known each other a long time,” Biden told a crowd outside the CEO’s mansion.
“She was 17, I was 40,” he joked, eliciting a few laughs.
It looks like the president tried to portray himself as much younger than he actually was when Longoria was a teenager.
Biden would have been 50 when Longoria was 17 and she would have been 7 when the President was 40.
Longoria, a longtime Democratic Party ally, endorsed Biden in 2020 and previously campaigned with him when he was Barack Obama’s vice president.
The age comment wasn’t Biden’s only joke of the evening.
He introduced himself to the crowd with a quip he uses frequently, saying, “I’m Jill Biden’s husband.”

At some point during his speech, a bystander shouted, “I love you,” and the Commander-in-Chief roared back, “I accept!”
The White House’s decision to show Longoria’s film is not without controversy.
Flamin’ Hot tells the story of how a Mexican-American janitor – Richard Montanez – who works at Frito-Lay sells his bosses the idea of beefing up the snack brand Cheetos.
But a Los Angeles Times revelation casts doubt on Montanez’s claims, and Frito-Lay says he was “not involved” in making the spicy treat.

“When I think of today’s film, I think of courage. “So many of you, your ancestors, left everything you knew to start a new life in the United States,” Biden said of the film.
A White House official defended the decision to show the film, telling the Associated Press that the film is not a documentary and is intended to give Americans of all backgrounds an opportunity to be reflected in the film and be celebrated by the President.
