Brazil’s Gabriel Jesus red card for kickoff
Sometimes decisions about red cards are controversial. That was not the case in the case of Brazilian Gabriel Jesus in Friday’s Copa America game.
The Manchester City striker was given a red card during the Brazil-Chile quarter-final for a kick in the face of Chilean left-back Eugenio Mena early in the second half.
Mena could stay in the game, Jesus couldn’t. It’s not hard to see why:

That kick was preceded by the only goal in the game two minutes earlier when Lucas Paqueta, who was substituted on shortly after half-time, did the following:
Brazil played with 10 men on the field in the second half but still kept Chile goalless to win 1-0 and book a trip to the semi-finals. There they will face Peru, who defeated Paraguay on penalties on Friday, while Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay and Colombia are waiting on the other side.
