Chelsea are reportedly signing former PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino from Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly back coaching in the English Premier League after Chelsea reportedly named him the club’s next manager Football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

He will replace interim manager Frank Lampard, who took over from Thomas Tuchel after Chelsea sacked him a month into the season on September 7. Pochettino, 51, was reportedly on the team’s shortlist shortly after Tuchel’s departure. He will start as head coach next season Romanowith Lampard staying on as caretaker manager until the end of this season.

Pochettino last coached for Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 but parted ways on 5 July 2022 after 18 months. He spent the last five and a half years at Tottenham Hotspur and coached Southampton for a season in 2013. Pochettino posted a 55-15-14 record for PSG, 159-62-72 for Spurs and 23-15-14 for Spurs. 18-19 with Southampton. He has also achieved a 31-15-21 record in international competitions such as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

Chelsea need Pochettino to bounce back a club that has spent nearly $600 million since Los Angeles Dodgers owner Todd Boehly bought the team a year ago. The Blues currently sit 11th in the league table and have lost or drawn 11 of their last 12 games over the past two months.
