Elon Musk has warned aspiring entrepreneurs hoping to emulate his success to “be careful what they wish for.”
Asked what an aspiring “Elon Musk of the East” should focus on, he said at a business forum in Bali on Monday that he was “not sure how many people would actually like to be me.”
“They would like to be what they imagine me to be, which isn’t the same,” he continued. “I mean, the amount I’m torturing myself with is honestly next level.”
musk was speaking at the B20 business forum ahead of a Group of 20 leading economies summit taking place on the Indonesian island.
The new Twitter The owner joined the conference via video link just weeks after completing his rigorously vetted takeover of the social network.
He was expected to attend the event in person, but Indonesian government minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, who is responsible for coordinating preparations for the summit, said Musk could not attend because he was anticipating a court hearing at the summit week prepared.
Testimony began Monday in Delaware, where Tesla shareholders are questioning Musk’s compensation plan as CEO, which may be worth more than $55 billion (£47 billion).
“My workload has increased quite a bit lately,” he said with a chuckle, referring to the Twitter deal. “I mean, oh man. I’ve got too much work on my plate, that’s for sure.”
