Ex-CIA chief Michael Morell wrote Hunter Biden’s laptop “disinfo” letter for Biden to use during the debate
The ex-CIA chief, who wrote the letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials attempting to discredit the Post’s report on Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop, told another former senior intelligence official that he was drafting it as a “talking topic” for Joe Biden , which he did during a debate with Donald Trump.
Former acting CIA Director Michael Morell told his former CIA chief John Brennan in an Oct. 19, 2020 email — obtained by Just the News — that he was trying to give Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign some ammunition to “roll back Trump.” “. Debate as he asked Brennan to sign the letter citing Hunter Biden’s laptop as a possible Russian disinformation operation.
“May I add your name to this list?” Morell asks Brennan in the email.
“Trying to abandon the campaign especially during the debate [Oct. 22, 2020]a talking point to push Trump back on this issue,” Morell explains, admitting that the letter is intended to help Biden in his showdown with Trump.
To which Brennan replied, “Ok Michael, add my name to the list. Good initiative. Thanks for asking me to sign up.”
The fuming email exchange shows Brennan knew Morell’s political motivation before signing the letter.

The Post learned Thursday that Brennan will be with members of the House Subcommittee on Arming the Federal Government for a transcribed interview related to the March 11 letter.
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who also signed the letter, will appear for an interview before the panel on May 17, a source familiar with the plans told the Post.
Morell’s email also sheds light on other members of the US intelligence community who were asked to add their names to the project but did not.

“Today we will be adding Leon, Sue Gordon, Jeh Johnson, George, Lisa Monaco and Mike Rogers (DIRNSA). And are working to add Dan Coats, Mike Rogers (HPSCI) and Tom Bossert,” writes Morell.
Of the officials Morell mentions, only former CIA director Leon Panetta appears to have included his name in the letter.
Former CIA Moscow station chief Daniel Hoffman told Fox News last week that he was also given a chance to sign the letter, but ultimately declined because there was “no evidence” of Russian involvement in it Hunter Biden’s laptop scandal.

“We weren’t allowed to speculate. So I didn’t sign the letter. I don’t normally put my name in other people’s words,” Hoffman said.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who also chairs the government’s subcommittee on arming others, announced last month that Morell testified before his panel that he authored the letter and that Secretary of State Antony Blinken – then a Biden campaign adviser – who was the “impulse” behind the attempt to discredit The Post.
Jordan and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) informed Blinken last week that they were investigating his role in the writing of the letter.
On the same day that Morell’s email exchange with Brennan took place, Politico published a report on the letter and during Biden’s debate against Trump on Oct. 22, 2020, used it to deflect allegations of his involvement in foreign influence programs by saying claimed The Post had reported on “a Russian factory”.
