Fan dies after falling at Acrisure Stadium after Jets Steelers game

A football fan died Sunday night after falling off an escalator at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

The unidentified man fell off the escalator at 4:45 p.m. after the end of the Steelers-Jets game, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

Paramedics provided assistance at the scene and then took him to a nearby hospital in critical condition, public security said.

The fan could not be saved in the hospital and succumbed to his injuries.

“We are aware of an unfortunate incident that occurred at Acrisure Stadium today,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said in a statement cited by WPXI.

“We are working with local authorities and are helping them investigate the matter. We send our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family.”

The authorities are investigating the incident.

The viewer’s death came less than three months after a man fell from an escalator at the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field during The Weeknd’s show and died on July 14. Police said the man’s death appeared to be an accident.
