Former Vice President Mike Pence publishes memoirs
Former Vice President Mike Pence will record his experience at Trump White House with a two-book deal he signed with Simon & Schuster on Wednesday.
The publisher said Pence would write “the definitive book on one of the most momentous presidencies in American history.”
Pence’s autobiography is expected to be published in 2023 as part of the book deal, the publisher said in a press release.
“I am grateful to have the opportunity to tell the American people the story of my life in the public service, from serving in Congress to the Office of the Indiana Governor and becoming the Vice President of the United States,” said the 48th vice president.
“I look forward to working with the amazing team at Simon & Schuster to invite readers on a trip from a small Indiana town to Washington, DC.”
The memoir is designed to focus on Pence’s national political development and provide insight into key moments from the 2016 presidential race to President Biden’s inauguration.
The Republican was known for his continued loyalty to Trump until the former president falsely claimed the 2020 election was fraudulent. It is unclear how thoroughly the book will focus on their breakup.
The news comes the same day Pence announced that he was starting a conservative advocacy group, Advancing American Freedom.
The organization “will defend and build on the successful policies of the Trump Pence administration” and “help defeat the agenda of the radical left and advance American freedom for generations to come!” Pence said on Wednesday.
The former Veep began re-entering the public arena last month, speaking out against a democratically-led voting reform bill passed in Congress.
In February, the former Indiana governor announced that he had joined the Heritage Foundation’s conservative think tank as a distinguished visiting scholar.
