France maintains victory over Morocco and advances to defend title against Argentina
France could become the first team in 60 years to win back-to-back world titles.
Les Bleus fended off Morocco with an early fifth-minute goal from Theo Hernández and left the Al Bayt Stadium in a 2-0 win to reach the final against Argentina.
Hernández’s goal changed the game after the young defender fired a deflected ball from the six yard box into the back net. France held their own from there, and an extra goal from Kolo Muani in the 79th minute sealed it.
A World Cup victory for the French in the final would make them the first team to win a consecutive World Cup since Brazil in 1958 and 1962.
