Hirving Lozano’s late goal secured the 1-0 win
Mexico got the confidence boost they needed in front of 62,729 fans at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on Saturday. El Tri’s Hirving Lozano scored the winning goal in the 85th minute of a friendly against Peru. The goal made the difference as the game ended 1-0 in Mexico’s favour.
The win alleviates some of what is plaguing Tata Martino’s side as they head into the final line-up ahead of Tuesday’s World Cup against Colombia. Mexico had scored just four goals in their last six games, three against weak Suriname.
Lozano plays an important role in Qatar as Mexico’s forwards are plagued by injuries. Raul Jimenez and Rogelio Funes Mori both missed out on Saturday due to injury.
Mexico open their World Cup campaign on November 22 against Poland in Group C, rounded out by Argentina and Saudi Arabia.
