Human remains found near a hiking trail in California
Two hikers searching for snakes in California found something much more frightening instead – human remains, authorities said.
The skull and bones were discovered on a trail at Fanita Ranch Wednesday afternoon, KSWB news channel reported.
“A skull appeared and a spine and everything else – it was kind of spread out,” said hiker Ryley Becker the outlet.
Travis Raszkowski, who hiked with Becker, said more bones were scattered a few feet from the skull.
“There are some leg bones above a bush that are about 3 meters above the bush,” Raszkowski told the point of sale.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said murder detectives are leading the investigation. News broadcaster KNSD reports.
The remains have not been identified and a cause of death has not been established, authorities said.
