Stargazers across the UK were able to catch a glimpse of a solar phenomenon today as the sun appeared to have taken a bite out of it.
The stunning sight was the result of a partial solar eclipse, which occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth.
Observers around the world went outside to watch the moment as it happened, with those in western Siberia predicting to have the best view.
People were advised not to look directly at the sun to avoid damaging their eyes.
dr Robert Massey of the Royal Astronomical Society said the eclipse could result in the moon blocking the view of “some or all of the sun’s bright surface” and the sun “shining like it’s taken a bite out”.
