Inter Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman was recently hospitalized after being bitten by a spider at the zoo.

His wife revealed on social media this week via TMZ that Marsman was attacked by a venomous spider at the zoo. It’s not clear which spider specifically bit Marsman or where, but the incident was serious enough to require him to be hospitalized for three days.

The 32-year-old has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

It’s not yet known how long Marsman will be sidelined.

Marsman is in his third season at Inter Miami, which marks his first appearance in Major League Soccer after a decade playing in his home country, the Netherlands. Marsman is yet to play this season and sits second on the depth chart behind Drake Callender.

Miami currently holds a 5-0-12 record – the worst record in the Eastern Conference – ahead of Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Union. The club plan for Argentinian star Lionel Messi to make his debut on July 21 in a League Cup match against Liga MX’s Cruz Azul. Messi earlier this month announced plans to move to Miami and the MLS after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ends this summer.
