Liverpool is favored over Real Madrid

Liverpool will be in contention for a third major trophy in Saturday’s Champions League final.

The Reds missed their chance for a historic quadruple on Sunday as Manchester City scored three goals in six minutes to beat Aston Villa 3-2 and win the English Premier League. Liverpool defeated Wolves 3-1 and would have won the league had Man City drawn or lost to Aston Villa.

Liverpool won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup earlier in the season. An EPL title would have given Liverpool a chance to win the Champions League for the fourth time this season and become the first English team to win all four competitions in the same season.

Three trophies would still be very rare company. And Liverpool enter Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid (3pm ET, CBS) as BetMGM favorites to win at +110 in regulation. Real Madrid sits at +240 to win the game in regulation while a regular draw sits at +260.

Real Madrid reached the Champions League final thanks to epic comebacks against PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City in the last three rounds. Real’s victory over City prevented a pure EPL duel in the final for the third time in the last four seasons. Chelsea beat Man City 1-0 a season ago and won the Champions League, while Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 in 2019.

A Champions League title for Liverpool would be the team’s seventh and tied with AC Milan for second most titles. Madrid have the most titles with 13 and a win would be double that of Milan.

Real Madrid star striker Karim Benzema is the co-favorite to score the first goal at +350 and the favorite to score the first goal at +120. He is tied with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah for the first goal and Salah has +125 for any goal. You can score a goal from Salah and Liverpool win at +200, while a goal from Benzema and a win from Real Madrid are at +260.
