Liverpool should get their first win of 2022-23 against Man United
Both Manchester United and Liverpool go into their Week 3 EPL clash in desperate need of points. And Liverpool are big favourites.
By now you know how poor United were in the first two weeks of the season. The Red Devils lost at home to Brighton in the first week and then were bombed out by Brentford on Saturday. Man U is bottom of the table. And it deserves to be there.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have just two points after stunning games against Fulham and Crystal Palace in the opening fortnight. Liverpool scored a crucial goal against Palace despite losing a man on Monday after Darwin Nunes was sent off. He will be unavailable for this Monday’s game against United.
While Nunes’ absence is significant for Liverpool, the Reds shouldn’t need him against such a dysfunctional United side. Erik ten Hag’s squad has been miserable so far and lacks any cohesion. United seem to be linked with a new player on the transfer market every day, although it’s unclear just how much the squad can and will be overhauled in the last two weeks of the transfer window.
We support Liverpool in this case. Here are our picks for the rest of EPL week 3. All odds are from BetMGM. All games are Saturday unless otherwise noted.
Tottenham vs Wolves (over/under 2.5 goals)
-
Tottenham (-275)
-
Wolves (+725)
-
Tie (+400)
Tottenham are huge favorites after an impressive two weeks into the season opener and a hilarious feud between Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel. We take Spurs.
Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa (2.5)
-
Palace (+150)
-
Villa (+185)
-
tie (+225)
Another draw for Palace seems like the right game here, although none of the three results would surprise us.
Fulham v Brentford (2.5)
-
Fulham (+135)
-
Brentford (+195)
-
tie (+230)
Fulham have opened their EPL campaign with two draws, while Brentford are flying high after United’s demolition. The Bees can’t counter Fulham like they did against United but we take them to take all three points.
Leicester City vs Southampton (2.5)
-
Leicester (-115)
-
Southampton (+290)
-
Tie (+280)
Leicester should win here at home although we wouldn’t be stunned to see a draw.
Everton v Nottingham Forest (2.5)
-
Everton (-115)
-
Nottingham Forest (+310)
-
Tie (+250)
Forest won against West Ham in Week 2 and easily beat Everton. We go with the tie.
Bournemouth vs Arsenal (2.5)
-
Bournemouth (+650)
-
Armory (-250)
-
Tie (+360)
Arsenal have been very impressive so far and that run of form should continue.
West Ham v Brighton & Hove (2.5) [Sunday]
-
West Ham (+125)
-
Brighton (+210)
-
tie (+240)
We’re betting on another draw here. Brighton and West Ham appear very even.
Leeds v Chelsea (2.5) [Sunday]
-
Leeds (+450)
-
Chelsea (-175)
-
Tie (+320)
We won’t reconsider and choose Chelsea. We’re surprised the chances of a Chelsea win aren’t even lower.
Newcastle vs. Manchester City (2.5) [Sunday]
Manchester United vs Liverpool (3.5) [Monday]
-
United (+425)
-
Liverpool (-175)
-
Tie (+350)
As we said above, Liverpool has to be the choice.
