Man City and Liverpool lead 2022-23 title odds
It sure looks like there will be another two-team race in the English Premier League in 2022-23.
Manchester City and Liverpool have significantly better chances than anyone else of winning the league title next year. And the reigning champions are better than money to win the league for the fifth time in six seasons.
City are an incredibly short -160 at BetMGM to win the league again. The Citizens won the 2021/22 season on the final day of the season by three goals in six minutes to turn a two-goal deficit over Aston Villa into a one-goal lead and a win, while Liverpool beat Wolves. Liverpool are at +225 to win the league a year after the Reds played in every game possible in 2021-22.
Liverpool won both the Carabao and FA Cups and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid on Saturday.
City have already announced the impending arrival of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund ahead of the season, while Liverpool could potentially lose star Sadio Mane. Following Liverpool’s defeat by Madrid, reports surfaced that Mane could leave this summer.
Chelsea and Tottenham are No.3 favorites to win the league at +1600 – well behind City and Liverpool. Chelsea will have new owners next season as a group led by Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly takes over the club. We’ll see how the new regime will deal with what could be a major change within the squad this summer, as key defenders like Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilecueta could leave the club alongside Antonio Rudiger.
Manchester United are the No.5 favorites at +2500 ahead of another season of change for the squad. Former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag takes charge of the team, while United announced on Wednesday that Paul Pogba will leave on a free transfer this summer. United need help in many areas if they want to reach the Champions League and need to figure out whether Cristiano Ronaldo will stay with the club for another season or find another team.
