Man City investigate fan attack on Aston Villa’s Robin Olsen

Manchester City, just hours from their title-winning comeback win over Aston Villa, apologized to Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen on Sunday for being “attacked” as fans rushed onto the pitch.

Manchester City would like to offer their sincere apologies to Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen who was attacked after the final whistle of tonight’s game as the fans took the field.

Video of the incident shows Olsen walking off the field and being tackled as Man City fans stormed the pitch to celebrate their win. Details of what happened to Olsen have not been released, but the video shows at least two fans approaching him directly and interacting with him in some way. Olsen then had to protect his face as two stadium officials pushed him off the field. The orange-clad stadium official was also knocked out by a fan.

Man City also announced they were investigating the incident.

The club launched an immediate investigation and, after identifying who was responsible, issued an indefinite stadium ban.
