Manchester City’s João Cancelo shares the aftermath of the attack
Manchester City full-back João Cancelo and his family were reportedly in a scary situation on Thursday from which he unfortunately did not escape scot-free.
Cancelo shared a photo of himself with a cut and bruises around his right eye on his Instagram Story, with a caption explaining that he was attacked by “four cowards” while he was with his family. Per cancelo, the burglars took his jewelry after injuring him when he tried to fight back.
Cancelo’s full explanation:
Unfortunately today I was attacked by four cowards who hurt me and tried to hurt my family. If you resist, this happens. They managed to take all my jewelry and leave me in this condition. I don’t know how there are people who are so mean. The most important thing for me is my family and fortunately they are all doing well. And after so many obstacles in my life, this is just one that I will overcome. Firm and strong as always.
Shortly after Cancelo published his story, Manchester City released a tweet describing the attack as a break-in at Cancelo’s home and pledged support for their player.
Cancelo has played for Manchester City since 2019 when he joined the team in a £65million transfer. He remains one of the best full-backs in the world and was named PFA Premier League Team of the Year with the Premier League champions squad last season.
