Mexico eliminated despite victory, Argentina wins Group C

After an absolutely chaotic 90 minutes at two different stadiums in Qatar, Mexico were sidelined and Argentina won Group C.

Mexico beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 but it wasn’t enough to advance to the knockout stages after struggling in the first two games. Meanwhile, Argentina topped the group in a harmless match against Poland.

The Mexicans will be disappointed with the result as they probably needed just one goal to progress to the knockout rounds but failed to score despite a second-half barrage. Mexico would finish with 26 shots, including 19 on target.

The results mean that Argentina will meet Australia on Saturday, while Poland will meet France on Sunday.
