NY woman receives hundreds of mysterious packages
A buffalo woman was inundated with hundreds of packages containing thousands of face mask holders that she had not ordered.
On June 5, Jillian Cannan was bombarded with mysterious Amazon and UPS shipments, many on pallets dropped by giant trucks, according to NBC News.
The western New Yorker initially assumed they were supplies from her small business partner, until she opened some of the boxes and found thousands of silicone support frames for use in face masks, the article said.
“When I first started receiving the packages, I called Amazon to try to return them, but they explained that they were officially mine as they were delivered to my home,” Cannan told the network .
When the unwanted packages began arriving day after day, Cannan switched to detective mode.
“At first I was convinced it was a scam or that maybe someone was trying to clear his warehouse,” Cannan allegedly said. “But because all the items were the same, I think that’s not the case here.”
Eventually, Cannan persuaded Amazon to track down the original order and remove its address from it.
“I just hung up on Amazon again. They were able to stop the additional 1,000+ boxes that were supposed to be shipped, ”she wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
“I’m still not sure how many are already on the way. She’ll call me again tomorrow and I told her to watch last night’s show tonight. “
Cannan and her children then reportedly came up with a creative plan to ensure that the unwanted inventory isn’t wasted.
“How can we get anything positive out of this whole hilarious story?” Cannan said, according to the report. “So my business partner and I reached out to the children’s hospitals and decided that we could make a face mask to decorate your own face mask and include the holder in the little kit with a blank face mask and some crayons and stickers for kids to work while they work are in the hospital. “
Cannan said she asked Amazon to donate the other supplies needed for the project, which was initially denied but is still negotiating with company officials, the article said.
“I’m trying to give a positive twist,” she reportedly said. “I have four young children and I’m trying to show them how to make lemonade out of lemons and just walk with them.”
