NYC driver fatally collides with pedestrian crossing in Queens

A pedestrian was struck by a motorist and killed while attempting to cross a street in Queens on Friday night, police said.

The 64-year-old man was hit near the intersection of Seagirt Avenue and Beach 30th Street in Far Rockaway around 6:50 p.m., police officers said.

A 26-year-old man driving a black Jeep Wrangler was traveling east on Seagirt Avenue when he met the man who police said was trying to cross the street in the middle of the block.

The 64-year-old was struck around 6.50pm last night.

The pedestrian suffered severe trauma to his body and was transported by first responders to St John’s Episcopal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver stayed where he was. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
