Parler was removed from tech firms’ platforms as Trump searches for a new online megaphone, Trump News
He was bumped by most major social media outlets following the riots of his supporters in the U.S. Capitol, but President Donald Trump is still looking for online options to reach his followers.
Far-right website Parler was the leading candidate until Google and Apple removed it from their app stores and Amazon said it would start its web hosting service at midnight Pacific time on Sunday.
The two-year-old website says it has more than 12 million users, although mobile app analytics firm Sensor Tower estimates the number at 10 million worldwide, including 8 million in the US.
That’s a fraction of the 89 million followers Mr Trump had on Twitter.
Parler could be attractive to him as his sons Eric and Don Jr are already active there.
Many have used the forum to spread falsehoods and hateful comments.
Google has removed its smartphone app from the store to allow postings that are said to “trigger ongoing violence in the US”.
Apple followed on Saturday night after Parler had 24 hours to process complaints that “planned and facilitated further illegal and dangerous activity.”
Public safety issues need to be resolved before they can be restored, Apple said.
The subsequent move from Amazon effectively takes the website offline unless a new company is found to host its services.
Parler CEO John Matze slapped Amazon, Google, and Apple, saying it was a coordinated effort to know that Parler’s options were limited and would do the most damage, given that Mr. Trump was supported by other social media Platforms was excluded.
In a later post he said, “We’ll likely be down longer than expected. This is not due to software limitations. We have our software and data ready. Rather, it is the statements made by Amazon, Google and Apple to Die Presse about the deletion.” Our access has meant that most of our other providers have stopped supporting us as well.
“And most people with enough servers to host us have closed their doors to us. We’ll all update and update the press when we get back online.
“Parler is my last stand on the Internet. I will not create an account in any social area. Parler is my home. See you soon.”
In addition to Parler, right-wing social media users in America flocked to the messaging app Telegram and the handy social site Gab, citing more aggressive monitoring of political comments on mainstream platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
Mr Trump’s Twitter person has long acted as a mix of political announcements often made out of the blue. Complaints about the media; Degradation of women, minorities and their perceived enemies; and praise for his supporters who started with exclamation marks, capital letters and one-word explanations like “Sad!”
He has sacked numerous officials on Twitter and his posts, like his speeches at rallies, are a stream of misinformation.
