Real Madrid, Barcelona among teams playing in USA this summer
Although there will be no World Cup this summer, with the tournament taking place in November and December for the first time ever, fans in the United States can enjoy international men’s soccer with big names.
AEG on Friday announced a new event, the Soccer Champions Tour, to be held July 22-30 in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Dallas and Los Angeles. Reigning Champions League and La Liga winners Real Madrid top the list of teams set to take part in the games, along with Barcelona, Italian giants Juventus and Club America from Liga MX and Chivas Guadalajara round out the squads.
“After not seeing some of these teams in the United States for several years, we are excited to offer soccer fans in the United States the opportunity to see their favorite European and Mexican clubs play in person again,” said Tom Braun, senior vice at AEG President of Soccer & Business Operations and Business Development.
The competition marks the first time Real Madrid and Barcelona have played in the States since 2019. They will face off in a pre-season El Clásico on July 23 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
