Spain and England are the favorites for the 2022 European Championship title.

Both powerhouses are at +350 on BetMGM to clinch the European Women’s title before the competition kicks off on Wednesday afternoon. England will host the tournament, starting at 15:00 ET against Austria.

You can make the case for England as easy favorites after Spain received some terrible news on Tuesday. Alexia Putellas suffered a cruciate ligament tear in her left cruciate ligament in training before the European Championships and will be absent for the entire tournament.

Putellas won the Ballon d’Or as the best player in women’s football and was also named FIFA’s best player. She scored 11 goals in the Champions League and also scored 18 goals in the Spanish Primera Division for Barcelona. Barcelona women’s team was the most dominant side of the year despite failing to win the Champions League after losing to Lyon in the final.

After Spain and England, four other teams have +750 or better chances of winning the title. The Netherlands and France are the #3 favorites to win at +550, while Sweden is at +650 and Germany at +750. There is a big gap between the top six teams and the other 10 teams in the tournament. Norway is the #7 favorite at +1600.

France seems to have gotten the easiest group draw of the top teams. The French have an amazing -2500 to get out of their group and -500 to win them.

Here’s a quick look at the pre-tournament odds available at BetMGM. The tournament format consists of four groups of four in the group stage, and the top two teams in each group advance to the quarter-finals. The final will take place on July 31 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
