Teenage parents charged after child dies of cocaine use
South Carolina teenage parents face murder charges after authorities found their child died of cocaine use, a report said.
The charges against Brady Wearn, 18, and Mary Bedenbaugh, 17, came after their four-month-old baby died on May 2, WSPA authorities said.
The infant was found unconscious in a location in Prosperity and later pronounced dead in the hospital.
Toxicological reports later showed the baby had cocaine in his body and in feeding bottles, according to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities found the child died of cocaine use, the report said.
Wearn and Bedenbaugh also had cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana in their systems, according to toxicological results.
The parents are accused of homicide through child abuse and illegal behavior towards a child.
