The Georgia man who paid in 91,515 cents is finally getting a “real payment”.
This company pays it up.
A Georgia man whose vengeful ex-boss paid him his last paycheck for oily pennies for $ 915, finally got a “real payment” thanks to the help of a coin-counting company.
Andreas Flaten’s penny 91,515 wheelbarrow, which was dropped in his driveway last month by former employer A OK Walker Autoworks, was picked up on Thursday and redeemed by Coinstar, according to a press release from the company.
“I spent an hour or two a night cleaning the pennies and probably only made about $ 5,” Flaten said, according to the press release. “I was so relieved and grateful.”
On March 12, Flaten found 500 pound pennies smeared with motor oil at his Fayetteville home, making them difficult to cash in
A note on top of the booty read: “F – K you.”
Flaten’s girlfriend Olivia Oxley later shared a video of the Penny Pile in an Instagram post that went viral and prompted Coinstar to lend a hand.
“Coinstar has been in the coin business for 30 years and we process around 41 billion coins annually, so collecting 91,000 pennies was all in one day,” the company said.
The company said it had rounded the value of the pennies to $ 1,000 and offered to donate the same amount to charities of Flaten’s choice.
According to FOX News, Flaten has selected two animal shelters in the Atlanta area to receive the donations.
“I gave the money to Royal Animal Refuge and TLC Pet Rescue. One rescued my dog and one rescued my mother’s dog, ”he told the station on Friday.
Flaten was reportedly promised his final check for $ 915 by January, but the money never arrived. He later said his ex-boss charged him with damages for the company and refused to pay him properly.
