
The Ukrainian military chief hints that a counter-offensive could soon follow
Kharkiv, Ukraine — Ukraine increased speculation that a counteroffensive An attack on Russian forces could be imminent as a video was released on Saturday expressing intentions to annihilate the enemy with a range of Western weapons.
That skillfully produced Video showed troops preparing for battle with US-made armored vehicles, artillery, and rocket launchers.
The video, posted by General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the supreme commander of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, contained the message, “The time has come to take back what is ours,” and ended with defiant chants from Ukrainian troops.
In an interview on Friday, Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said the counteroffensive could take place “tomorrow, the day after or in a week”.

Meanwhile, Moscow stepped up its attacks ahead of the threatened counter-offensive when a missile hit a medical facility in Dnipro on Friday. At least one person was killed and 15 others injured, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Twitter. Kyiv was one of several cities that have also been the target of a series of drone and missile attacks.
It’s all coming as an anti-Kremlin fighter from inside Russia carry out attacks in Russian border towns such as Bryansk and Belgorod. The Partisans are a diverse collection of groups united by their desire to overthrow Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In response to written questions from CBS News this week, a masked gunman from one of these groups said they were “destroying military targets and supporting infrastructure like power plants and railroads.”
The heavily disguised militants also provided video in which they allegedly set off an explosion, attacked a power substation and started a fire with a Molotov cocktail. CBS News has not been able to independently verify the group’s claims.
Earlier this week, a separate group of anti-Kremlin militants launched a daring cross-border raid in Russia’s Belgorod region. While a new video was posted on social media on Friday night, it said there was another drone strike with heavy shelling in the area early Saturday.
