Trump slams LeBron James for “racial abuse” after an Ohio police officer tweeted
Former President Donald Trump beat up NBA star LeBron James on Thursday for an inflammatory tweet about the Ohio police officer who shot and killed 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant.
“LeBron James should focus on basketball rather than directing the destruction of the NBA,” Trump said in a statement.
“His racist abuse is divisive, angry, insulting and degrading,” the statement said. “He may be a great basketball player, but he’s not doing anything to bring our country together!”
Akron-born James, 36, caught Trump’s attention after he tweeted a picture of Columbus police officer Nicholas Reardon with the ominous-sounding headline, “YOU’RE NEXT”.
The Los Angeles Lakers star deleted the tweet amid backlash, saying he scrapped writing because it was “used to create more hate”.
“This is not about an officer. It is about the whole system and they always use our words to create more racism,” he said, adding that he was “so damn tired of seeing black people killed by the police “.
