Wales vs Iran, USA vs England, Netherlands vs Ecuador, Qatar vs Senegal
The second round of the group stage of the 2022 World Cup starts on Friday. Have you heard that the USMNT is playing?
Of course you did. The United States are a major outsider for England after the Three Lions crushed Iran to open their World Cup campaign. A defeat is likely to derail America’s chances for advancement. A result is mandatory. can they get it

That line seems to reflect a relative lack of confidence in Wales’ ability to break Iran the way England did. We’re curious to see Kieffer Moore start the game for Wales and Wales are likely to control possession in this game. What can they do to break Iran? And what is the best result for the USA? You can argue that it’s a draw or a win for Iran. Bottom is the heavily favored side here at -200 and we tend to go with it.

It’s hard to have much faith in Qatar after what we saw on Sunday. Ecuador dominated the game and deservedly won. Senegal are already without Sadio Mane and likely without midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate. He’s a big part of the Senegalese midfield. But even without Mane and Kouyate, Senegal should have enough to eliminate Qatar from the round of 16 and set up a crucial game against Ecuador on Tuesday.

It took the Dutch over 80 minutes to score against Senegal and then added a second just in case. Given the way the first round of group games ended, both teams could be content to play for a draw and retain first place and control their own route to the knockout stages. We go with the draw. But if you’re feeling brave, a tie and an under-parlay could be worth the risk.

Bet this game with your head, not your heart. England are deserved favorites at -175 after their performance against Iran. If you want to bet on USA, we recommend taking a US win + tie combo bet at +135. Remember that a draw is a very good result for the USMNT, especially if Wales don’t beat Iran. As you can see from the odds, England are the safer bet here and would effectively end the United States’ chances of promotion. If you want to be optimistic, cover yourself with this combination bet instead of going with a result.
