Woman found naked in a gully in Florida is rescued
A woman who was missing for three weeks and then rescued from a gully in Florida found herself in another underground tunnel system in Texas over the weekend, according to media reports.
Lyndsey Kennedy, 43, climbed out of a 6-foot drain pipe and was rushed to a hospital Saturday night, her mother told the West Palm Beach, Florida-based WPEC, a CBS-affiliated television station, that Kennedy had been admitted to a rehabilitation facility in Texas when she migrated, she said.
She was last seen near the Dallas suburbs of Grand Prairie and Arlington, authorities said. Fox News contacted the Grand Prairie Police Department but received no response.
Kennedy’s friend Brady Morgan told the news agency that Grand Prairie officials spotted them. As they approached her, she slipped into a nearby gully, the news agency reported. Her family tracked her with an app on her cell phone that recorded her last location before going into hiding.
As a precautionary measure, loved ones tossed bags of groceries and Gatorade into nearby shafts to aid them.
Kennedy is in psychiatric detention in the hospital, reported the television station. Her family reportedly said she had psychosis and post-traumatic stress disorder because she was in an abusive relationship for years.
In March, Kennedy was dragged naked from a gully in Florida’s Delray Beach after being missing for three weeks.
She told authorities that she was trapped while exploring a tunnel she found while swimming in a canal near her boyfriend’s home. She got lost after several turns in the tunnel system, she said.
After she was rescued, the authorities said she was so weak that she could not stand on her own.
“I don’t know how long she would have been okay down there,” Dani Moschella, spokesman for the Delray Beach Fire Department, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel newspaper at the time of the rescue. “The idea that someone could be down there for long periods of time is unsettling. It’s dirty, dangerous, there are snakes, rats, rubbish, dirt and leaves, everything that is washed into the sewer on the street and it smells terrible. “
